London Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013
Mulberry - London Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013
While last season took a walk where the wild things are, Spring Summer 2013 at Mulberry
was a nostalgic journey into the brand's heritage - back to the 70s by
way of a beautiful English country garden.
Sorbet coloured garden gnomes
greeted guests arriving at the Claridges Ballroom lining the way into
the show, while an exquisite floral festooned tree guarded the entrance
to the runway. Enchanting to its very core, in true Mulberry form, the
front row drew a starry crowd with Alexa Chung shoulder-to-shoulder with Kate Moss,
who in turn was flanked by Lana Del Rey, Rebecca Hall, Daisy Lowe and
Gillian Anderson.
And Emma Hill knew just how to delight the crowd,
sending tropical-inspired gecko prints down the runway, mingling with
'school-uniform' neutrals in biscuit, navy and tan, contrasted with
blossom pastels in pear, cream berry and peach. Coats were given a
heritage military twist, layered textures gave a nod to the 70s vibe,
while pleats, frills and embroidered detailing kept the collection
quintessentially feminine.
The Willow Tote made its elegant and oh-so
practical debut, complete with a zip detachable envelope clutch, while
the trademark Mulberry Postman's lock got a floral makeover with petals.
And for fans of the Lily, the Cecily's chic chain strap and cookie-cut
edge, is a must for the new season.
